Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the border from nearby Thailand, in which casino betting is not legal. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a prime area, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of limitations requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; although, financing sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and although visas are allegedly necessary to cross, there are methods around this, as is true of many borders.

The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling den, features 150 slots and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slots and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel building that contains numerous amenities on top of the gambling hall, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and 88 tables.
