Cambodia Gambling Halls

[ English ]

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den betting is not legal. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent spot, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; however, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 17:00, and though visas are supposedly required to cross, there are means around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty slots and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are 150 slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel complex that highlights a number of amenities in addition to the gambling den, which provides 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machine games and 88 gaming tables.
