Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where casino gambling is prohibited. Eight gambling dens are situated in a generally small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect destination, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, funding sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and though visas are for all intents and purposes needed to cross, there are methods around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau gambling hall, features 150 slot machine games and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slots and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive vacation and hotel building that contains many conveniences aside from the gambling hall, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight tables.
